Woke up, showered, got ready and went to my cousin's baby shower. It was absolutely wonderful to spend time with family that I love and adore so much. It was also wonderful to find out how much my loving family really supports me and how much I've inspired them all to work out and get in shape. That honestly just made my heart feel so good. Like I'm not only doing this for myself anymore, but I'm doing this to help others as well. It makes going through this grueling and sometimes frustrating journey to lose weight all that more rewarding. And that, my dear friends, is a win in itself.
Relating back to why we're all here though, I found it extremely easy to make healthier choices today in eating. More salad than anything, vinaigrette dressing as opposed to ranch, some cheese as opposed to piling on the cheese, sesame seeds as opposed to bacon, veggie lasagna as opposed to meat lasagna and even then only a small portion. And I was STILL full and didn't feel like I left myself wanting more food. Who knew it could be so simple? I'm telling you- once you put your mind to this, and commit 110%, you'll be surprised as to how much easier the 'better choices' will be to make. I continue to surprise myself :)
After the fun with family, it was back to work. My bestie, Lori, and I met up for a quick work out. Only about 40 minutes today because we didn't realize that the gym closed at 7 on weekends. Whoopsie! The work out still felt great! In summary:
Elliptical - 10 minutes with a 5 minute cool down
Bike - 20 minutes with a 5 minute cool down
The elliptical still continues to be a struggle for me but I find that if I could press on past 5 minutes, I end up being able to at least get to 10 and then do a cool down. The goal for next week's work out days will to be to try and push past the 10 minute mark without killing myself.
The bike work out was really great, I tightened up my abs for the last 10 minutes of my work out and I'm STILL feeling the burn several hours later. It's a good burn. :)
That concludes day 6, tomorrow is a no work out day. In fact, all Sundays (unless otherwise noted) will be my one true rest day that doesn't change from week to week because there's no telling whether or not I'll have to work. And seeing as the gym opens at 7am and closes at 7pm and a typical Sunday shift is 10-7, there's just no true way to make it work and be worth it. So Sunday = Permanent rest day! Perhaps I'll use this day to post some Unusual Motivations (read more about that here)
Day 6 is done, 1 day to go!
